[ Honoring Past Friendships - Strengthening Future Relationships]
UNDER THEIR WINGS by Roy Grinnell
Thank you for visiting our new Internet site which is dedicated to raising funds for the preservation, restoration, and creation of an historical site at the old Flying Tigers airstrip in Guilin, China (formerly known as Kwelin). This site will recognize and commemorate the accomplishments and friendships forged between the Flying Tigers and the Chinese during WW ll.
"UNDER THEIR WINGS" dramatically depicts the special bond formed between the Flying Tigers and the Chinese people. For more works by Artist Roy Grinnell visit his web site at www.topgunart.com.
At present, our web site is still under construction. We have established a corporation for the fund raising effort. Flying Tiger Historical Organization, Inc. Application for tax exempt status is pending. Along with raising funds, we will be seeking memorabilia related to the Flying Tigers (both AVG and 14th AAF) to be displayed in the Flying Tiger Heritage Park Museum.
In the meantime you can reach us at 209-962-1147 and by fax at 209-962-6668. We are looking forward to hearing from you. You can also E-mail us at: ljobe@mtnleisure.com.
The Flying Tiger Heritage Park will honor and remember all US personnel who served in China during the Second World War. The Chinese have never forgotten what these brave men and women did for them during the dark days of World War Two. The Chinese do not distinguish between flying forces but rather consider all airmen who served in China to be Flying Tigers - Fighter Pilots, Bomber Pilots, Transport Pilots and ground crews. Elsewhere on this site you will find moving stories relating to the cooperation given by the Chinese to the Flying Tigers. Rescues were made at great risk to and sometimes death for the Chinese.
In brief, you should know the following about us: we are a small and dedicated group who have seen firsthand the esteem, regard, and reverence in which the Chinese still hold The Flying Tigers. We have trod on the same ground, talked to Chinese and Flying Tiger participants together and come to appreciate for ourselves the great accomplishments of these combatants. It is an honor to seize upon this opportunity to ensure that their record and deeds are preserved for history, while at the same time building a stronger bond between the Chinese and American peoples, a bond which was forged and firmly cemented by the Flying Tigers many years ago.
When reading the histories of the war in the China theater, it can clearly be said that "NEVER HAVE SO FEW DONE SO MUCH FOR SO MANY WITH SO LITTLE".

These wings were given to us by the Beijing Aviation Association, Mr Li, WWll P 51 pilot who flew with the Flying Tigers. They so well represent what we would like to accomplish that we have chosen them as our official symbol. In the center of the wings is a hand shake, which we feel symbolizes the friendship and shared experiences of pilots all over the world.
Aviation brings the world closer together.
